Dust In The Pines

These images were captured on 30 year old expired film and printed with dirt taken from the site infused into a photosensitive gelatin emulsion. An exploration on grief, the film used expired a month before my grandmother passed away. They were shot in North Carolina, her lifelong home and final resting place.

Furthermore, it invites the question of what embodies an image. Can both the method of its capture and depiction hold a physicality?
