A sound sculpture/musical instrument that allows the participant to play every possible tone from a single wineglass.
A motor concealed in the table spins a wineglass which upon placing a finger on the rim allows it to resonate or “sing”. The articulated metal bracket allows a tube to be inserted into the glass which, as long as it doesn’t touch the outer rim, won’t interfere with the glass’ resonance. The tube is then used to displace the water in the glass, changing the tone of its resonance. A microphone on the opposite side can be integrated with a guitar loop pedal and/or computer software which can then add filters or compile layers for nearly unlimited sonic complexity.
